OK so I missed last weeks blog. I was on vacation. I did have my laptop with me but not a reliable scale and I was just having way too much fun just relaxing.
So let’s get at it.
First off let’s talk about diet, we did really well whiles were on vacation. Went to the supermarket twice and really eat as many meals as we could in house. I can count the splurges on one hand so to me that is a complete Mention craziness and I did not feel like I missed out on anything, I was nice to not feel I wasn’t spiraling out of control.
The first night of vacation had me in Cape May totally low-carb and my last meal was at 4 PM. The bad thing is after three or four drinks I was pretty drunk. Not really they’re proud of myself for that. It hit me hard when I got home. And of course a week later the band was a little pissy with me and of course the two divas were drunk that night so at this point, fuck them. It’s very hard to worry about it too much when its the owners of the bar getting you drunk. They are like family at this point and I did not realize how quick being low carb would get me drunk. I’m fucking over 300 pounds for god sake and 6’3. But it got me. I was much more careful the rest of the week for sure. Even when I was walking or had a DD. Friday night ended a little stressfully with one of the gang being excessively drunk and shooting their mouth off. I am actually very surprised and how I handled myself calm, cool and collected. Who am I?
You can be the greatest vocalist or musician in the world and maybe you can sleep well at night knowing that. But if you don’t have a draw or put asses in the seats you will be lonely, hungry and need a place to live. So its fine to be an “okay singer” and “kinda a musician” if you have people to support that effort. If that’s what I am then I am okay with that. The fat, obnoxious asshole on stage has the best draw in the band hands down. I work hard at building relationships, friendships and making the people around me happy. If the grass is greener, other bands want you… peace out! Thank you for what you added to my life while you were here but I was okay before you, I have been fucked with, broken, beaten and I am still here making my half assed noise! You can be as great as the voices in your head and your great friends tell you, but in the end… take a good look in the mirror before opening your yap! I will be okay in the end.
Deep breath! I did have ice cream three times, some fudge, milk chocolate caramel cashew turtles, Johnsons popcorn and one small bag of cheetos. Weird how I can tell you what I ate that wasn’t part of my diet plan over the course of 9 days. But there it is.
We got out on the wave runners quite a few times. I’ll add some dolphin pictures below for you. It was breathtaking. Had a few awesome outings with my neighbors. I haven’t been this close to my shore neighbors in a long time and It just felt nice. Definitely crazier then me and now we all go to bed at 9:45 after day drinking a bit. God don’t every let me get as old as shanell my nookie! #oldhead lol. Actually the girl can drink a case of ultra like no other! But I’m better at skeeball so there is that!
We went to AC to see Third Eye Blind and it was EH! I was mesmerized by the fact that he did to want to be there and was pissy the whole shitty 70 minute set. If I knew he was going to basically play a long Bigg Romeo set, I would have skipped it – I would have two more to play for sure. We play so much more nightly. So now I am thinking to myself that I need to step it up every night cause I am sure there are nights that my band is like that and while I can’t make everyone follow, I can’t ever feel bad trying to lead by example!
So vacation came and went…. while on vacation I did a lot of reading and poking around learning about fats and intermittent fasting. I watched this documentary on Netflix called “the magic pill” and it kinda really freaked me out. It followed a few people on a low carb high fat change in their diet. There was a little girl with autism who did not speak, was aggressive and having a hard life. Once her parents stopped giving her juice boxes and chicken nuggets and quick junk food after a few weeks she spoke, was much calmer and was doing so much better. Another lady was overweight, diabetic and needed over $300 in out of pocket insulin every month and after 6 weeks she had cut 90% of the insulin out and then stopped it all together! Crazy. Cancer help? Yup! I totally recommend watching it if like me, shove a bunch of asthma meds down your throat daily. I am hoping that after awhile it will change for me cause I would love to not take all those damn meds.
So we got up Sunday morning and I told Amber that I wanted to grab a cup of coffee and head home a day early. I didn’t want to drink anymore. It was day one of my intermittent fasting. So what am I doing? I eat for 8 hours and then fast for 16 hours. This forces my body to use fat from my body for energy. The low carb diet kicks in as well. So I don’t eat anything at all after 9pm and then I wake up and fast until 1pm. In the am I drink black coffee, water and bcaas. Then I break my fast and the week i’ve actually been eating eggs and bacon. Not sure I’ll go with breakfast all the time but it was quick and easy. Then I just have to get all my food for the day before 9pm… And I eat a 2000 calorie diet, I am not starving myself. On the weekends, I am going to break fast at noon and go till 8pm so that I can eat as much as I can before I head out to work with the band.
So is it working do you ask? Absolutely. When I came home from vacation and weighed myself a day or two later I was the same as I was before I left. Not so bad in the grand scheme of things because I did have a lot of fun and did a lot of very social things. Today, I was down 5.5 pounds in the last two weeks. That includes vacation. I am down a total of 29 pounds since the beginning of my fat loss challenge mid April! I have 21 more pounds to lose to hit my goal for 2018. I honestly hope to have it done by the end of September. It will be a lightest that I have been since 2001.
So does Keto and intermittent fasting work? I can’t answer that for me it does. For my wife it seems to be working as well. I don’t know if it will work for everyone. I do know that I do not react to carbs very well from my body this seems to be working.
Since Monday I’ve done cardio three times, and have done my weight training everyday.
It is getting easier, but in the grand scheme of things it does take discipline. I have been doing my best to avoid bad situations, staying out of Wawa, trying to keep my stress level low. I am in bed every night before 11. I actually feel pretty good
I have a job interview in Reading tomorrow morning, if I land it the job will be local but I have to go out to Reading to do a face-to-face interview. So I will be spending over eight hours in the car with tomorrow nights drive to Dover Delaware. Hopefully, things work out for me. It will make my life so much easier. I am going to bring everything with me to my appointment and might go straight to Dover. But I am hoping to be able to come home and break my fast here. Lots of crazy driving this week, I look forward to the summer all winter and when it hits, I just pray to not be so rundown.
I hope summer is treating you well if you are reading this. It’s going by way too fast and I am going to do my rest to walk a tightrope and enjoy it as much as I can!.
Till next week!
Franco
Good luck Franco in Reading. Enjoyed your blog. Keep up the good fight and stay strong
Loved finding out you have a blog, too! Hope you don’t mind, but you’re quoted in mine for 3eb and even gave me an idea for the title. Although the show was EH, totally agree, it was great meeting you! https://honeybeebuzzblog.com/third-eye-blind-the-good-the-bad-the-not-gorgeous/
Glad you liked it! Still feel a certain way about that night
