It’s funny cause I never really look at somebody and have a jealousy in what they “Have” in material possessions. I think my jealousy comes with things that they can “Do” more than anything else. I might like their car or truck but I’ve never wished any ill will on anyone for what they worked for.. just like people who can bench press 200 pounds to my 150 pounds. That’s what I am jealous about. And I know that they put in the work to get that bench press number just like most people have to put in the work to get that BMW.
I had this conversation at home the other night. I watched a lot of my step sons best years from my couch and front window. I was 500 plus pounds. My legs were swollen like balloons. I’d be inside even on the nicest of days in compression stockings and Amber would be outside taking slapshots to the head, playing basketball and running the boys like a maniac. I am more jealous of ability. Amber can do pull-ups and really good push ups and that kidna stuff.
Last week I tried to get my max bench… 145lbs and of course Amber pushed 155lbs
The boys in the street could always run faster, jump higher, and after awhile back then you just kinda didn’t fit in. I am sure it’s a little different today. Those boys are in organized sports and the rest are playing video games. Me? I’d probably be doing something musical.
Today I worked out and did the workout that I just posted on the left of this paragraph. I am in the middle of my 3rd week at the new gym and I am definitely feeling stronger. I worked out with two guys that have been really good to me, Keith and John. Keith is the typical muscular, skinny ass crossfitter and John is a lot like me. Had weight loss surgery recently, trying to get healhty. All three if us are at different point in our workouts and journeys and in the and I look up to both of them for where they are and am a little jealous of the things that they can do that I can’t. Keith can do a pull up on a high bar with 100lbs chained to his skinny ass. I can’t pull my fat ass up!. But sooner or later I will. Mark my words. Little pulls by little pulls, I will get up there. While I was sitting there struggling wishing that I was as good as Keith I realized that in the end I did the right thing, I surrounded myself with people that will push me, lift me up, pick me up and in the end challenge me to be better. The boys in this street are much different in my older age.
So I’ve blogged about eating within my macros etc more than once. This was the first week in the past two months of being 100% “Compliant” and I have lost 6 pounds since last week. I logged in at 324 on the nose today and my body fat was down 1% too. I had ice cream last night – (It was Halo Top) Boom! I can get used to this. So this weeks goal is 4 lbs. I think I can get myself under 320 this week.
So if you are interested in getting your own macros etc. I started using a DIY program that is $10 a month and you check in weekly and it will adjust them for you. There are coaches that are amazing but everything comes at a price. I will give you two awesome options if you think this is something for you…. Right now I am using Avatar Nutrition which is the brain child of Fitness Guru and an actual doctor.. Layne Norton – https://www.avatarnutrition.com/ – It works fantastic with dieting, bulking, reverse dieting. They have a great closed FB group and lots of support as well. If you think you could benefit from some extra hands on, Mallory King has lost over 100 pounds flexible dieting and is available via text and email to all clients. She also has a support group and helps you stay accountable to your goals. You can find her at http://www.malzisfit.com/ – She has deals a lot too.
Although many people call it flexible dieting it’s not really a diet. It’s a lifestyle. And I can eat what I want but I have to hit the numbers. Protein, Carbs and Fat – It’s science bro! J It isn’t easy but after awhile you get used to it. It helps me diet and feel human too!
So that’s the workout and weight stuff.
I recently went and had a full workup at the doctors and had everything from prostate to vitamin D etc checked. Apparently I have don’t have enough Vitamin D and have too much B12 in me sooooo… No more sublingual B for me. And I’ve been taking B and B 12 for years. I have to take a D pill once a week. No big deal. I was concerned about the prostate more than anything so I am very grateful for a clean bill of health!
Had a great weekend of shows and feel like I am dancing and moving around better and better lately with strength and confidence. That’s a great thing! I look forward to the next few weeks
Thank you for reading and being a part of the team. We are all in this together.
