It’s been a while. I thought before I make another trip around the sun I would catch everyone up.
I turn 49 years old on Saturday. There is a human, humble and overall sense of reflection in it.
I think it takes a humble and fearful man to realize that I have more yesterdays than tomorrows left of my life and you have to cultivate a sense of gratitude in it and figure out what you really want to do with the rest of them.
That absolutely scares the living shit out of me.
The band has been back to work for two weeks. This past weekend was our first full weekend, and we will play this weekend in Atlantic City and close to home for my birthday. And then we have Presidents’ Day weekend off. Someone in the band wanted to go away. I am OK with it. If I wasn’t going away in March I would have planned something.
I have been busting my ass between the gym and the Peloton. I have been doing my best in the kitchen as well. The scale continues to circle around the same 5 pounds. Sooner or later something is going to drop. I have not wanted to start cutting calories just yet. So I am OK with staying the same amount of weight for another week. I am not to the point where I need to do anything drastic. I am just trying to stay the course. At this point I know what needs to be done. And my goal is to hit my final scale number by memorial day.
I am not going to go all apeshit crazy for my birthday but I am not going to restrict myself much either. There needs to be a balance.
I don’t even know where to start with things so let me just drop a list of catch-upy kind of things.
Amber and I did a lot of chillaxing while I was on my band break in January. We caught up with friends, had some dinners, she finished the bathroom project, and I did my best to stop her from starting any new ones just yet. But any man out there should know how that’s going to go.
Brandon, who is my oldest stepson and his wife bought a new house. I am very happy for them and at the same time very happy for the dogs who now have a massive yard and much more space. And of course I am over here letting them out and as I am typing this I’m sitting here while they are getting furniture delivered. Franco to the rescue.
I try to tell myself that you don’t have to be call dad to be a good father, but I think sometimes I wish I had that title too.
I guess sooner or later I’m going to look forward to being called grandpa.
My parents came into town for my uncle’s birthday, mind you not my birthday, so I at least got to see them for dinner and an hour later and drop them off at the airport. I’m not going to complain because my dad is tough. The calamari it was cold, his cheesesteak was cold, at 74 he’s a cranky old man. But it 48 I’m a cranky old man too and I love him to death.
I am looking forward to going to the Bahamas with my friends. I think when I come back I will have a good clear head to focus getting to memorial day weekend. We have a great schedule of shows. I cannot wait.
Brett has another week of supervised At the police department and then he will be on his own. If I wasn’t already scared for him.
My company had a sales kick off in DC that I was not invited to and it kind of bummed me out because all of my friends from other offices were going. But I am doing a lot more stuff for my team and I am glad to be working for the company that I work for. I like them a lot. And today I got a new boss!
So here I am taking off on and off the same 5 pounds. Trying to get 200 miles on the bike every month, and getting to the gym four times a week at least two left. I will say that the extra triceps and chest work that I do every week above my programming is starting to definitely make my arm wings go away. I am also finding that while I fit in large T-shirts that I like some xl’s because well my arms are getting bigger and chest broader and shirts fit wonky. Now if I can just get my pants to cooperate LOL.
If you’re reading this and you started at the gym in January and you were still going but I am super proud of you if you stopped and or you are not where you want to be then get your ass going in the right direction. There is no time to waste. Summer is coming. You build a summer body in the winter, not on May 1.
I want to thank everyone for being on this ride with me, including the day one peeps.
Happy Birthday to me!
Franco
